"None of These Styling Products Exist."

noga.  i liked her hair, she liked my skirt.  i asked her if her curls were hard to manage.  she said no.  of course not!  look how she wears them!  they're wild and natural, not because she's treating them with "Wild 'n Natural Curly Hair Styling Solution" but because she's letting them be.  whisper words of wisdom...

i might also add that israeli curls are some of the best curls i've ever encountered.

victoria.  was so nonchalant about letting me photograph her when i approached her at the South End Open Markets that it made me wonder if people aren't always snapping her picture.  is she famous?  am i missing something?

here's what i do know:  these photos do not do justice to how awesome her hair is.  she's obviously improved on nature a bit with the color, and someone has cut a killer layered bob into it, but what i like most is its gorgeously slept-on look, achieved not with "I Slept On It Hair Molding Mud," but with a pillow.  rock. and. roll.

every. damn. day.

so there's a title that clearly does not refer to the frequency with which i post.  here's what it refers to.

alyssa.  caught her on the orange line.  i was admiring her razor sharp bangs and she told me she trims them every day.  and i said: every day?  and she said: every day.  i totally believe her.
do i have to mention she was also wearing leopard print tights?  no, probably not.

i was looking at this album cover the other day, admiring Joni's bangs.  they're the antithesis of alyssa's.  i've looked at bangs from both sides now...

interrupture is not my word

all these folks were found on my cultural night out.  we got a babysitter and went to the sweetwater tavern deep in emerson college territory to hear amy participate in a reading.  we had an awesome time.

emily.  a poet from california who is also featured on interrupture, the online lit mag that hosted the event.  she read a poem i liked a lot called "del taco."  emily is very west coast, in more ways than just writing poems about cali-based fast food establishments.  check it out: it was probably 8:30 pm at the time of this photo and notice, sunglasses in hair (cascade of blonde hair, mind you).  soooo chill.

paul.  a lot of times, when I bring up bangs, a lot of women say disdainfully "oh, I had them when I was five..."  i hear men say similar things about the buzz cut.  with men, however, they're usually speaking with a hint of longing, as in, "if I could just buzz it, life would be simpler, but..."  i think paul shows us all here that men can sport the buzz, embracing the throw-back coif full force with throw-back specs and all.
it's all about the profile.  full credit to one Master Barber tom.

mariel.  you make it all worthwhile.
we should all be so inspired.
